Amazon anuncia despidos en su división de servicios en la nube AWS

@factores.economicos La división de computación en la nube de Amazon está despidiendo a cientos de empleados en sus unidades de tecnología para tiendas físicas, ventas y marketing, confirmó la compañía el miércoles.

“Hemos identificado algunas áreas específicas de la organización que necesitamos optimizar para continuar enfocando nuestros esfuerzos en las áreas estratégicas clave que creemos tendrán un impacto máximo”, dijo un portavoz de Amazon Web Services en un comunicado. “No tomamos estas decisiones a la ligera y estamos comprometidos a apoyar a los empleados durante su transición a nuevos roles dentro y fuera de Amazon”.

La lucrativa unidad AWS de Amazon ha visto una desaceleración en el crecimiento de sus ventas en los últimos trimestres debido a que las empresas redujeron su gasto en la nube en medio del aumento de las tasas de interés. Los ejecutivos de Amazon expresaron cierto optimismo en febrero cuando dijeron que el mercado está comenzando a mostrar signos de una reactivación.

La acción de Amazon (AMZN) acumula una ganancia de 77.53% en los últimos 12 meses y 20.37% en lo que va del 2024.
